if i did that to my missus after she bought something like this for me, that solid beep sound would indicate a flatline and not a stud partition !!! :p
What a fine video! Excellent presentation, lots of “watch out for this problem . . .”.
Now, I can go back and find all the missing studs for hanging my crown molding . . .

Great info and explains a lot of why I get false readings. Could you follow up with using a stud finder that has a built in electrical current finder. There must be some tips and false readings when using that option.
Good info. I also use a reo-bar finder for concrete tilt panel work and slab work, installing bolts, holes etc. Same principle and a lot of less broken drill bits and short holes. Made by Bosch.
hahah…hes’ sending shots to all of you electricians and plumbers (”no self-respecting plumber”) lol…nah but very insightful, im want to become a home installation tech.
If its a large towel bar you may want to consider toggle bolts, especially if the drywall is already damaged.Any hardware store clerk should be able to steer you to the right toggles I would take the towel bar with me to hardware store.Good Luck===Bob
Hi Bob…this has been very informative! But before i get started i thought i’ld check with you. I need to hang a towel bar in the powder room. Previous efforts by my husband lead to torn drywall because the scews never actually went INTO the stud (I think they went on the edge). Any advise?
Hi. For some reason i’ve found myself watching these Diy and Drywall clips on You Tube. I’m from the UK, and have my own very successful Drywall Business and have done for coming up 10 years. And of all the clips i’ve watched, you are the most articulate and clued up person of all. And it was a pleasure listening to someone who knows what they are talking about. A bit of a rarity on You Tube i’ve found out. Good Luck.
